So I want to purchase a mercury vapor bulb for my male veiled ,and it's kind of confusing there are so many different good and bad reviews for all brands . I just wanna go with zoomed but wat wattage 100 or 125 ? I am currently using 5.0 & 2.0 in a compact Exo terra w/75watt heat lamp.

from my understanding the mercury bulbs could go either way most people suggest not too i'm forgetting why now. but another thing i believe its going to cost you alot more in the long run. isnt it like approx 100$ for 1 bulb and supposedly they only last a few several months. your better off getting a 6% arcadia tube and keep the basking light both will last over a year and cost somewhere around 50$ for both. also depending what light fixtures you have

I use mercury Vapor bulbs for my bearded dragon. The 100W Zoo med produces A LOT of heat. Way too hot for a veiled. At 9" below I was getting readings of 98*F.
Just stick with the your compact or linear fluorescent bulbs. They will cost the same in the long run and still provide sufficient amounts of UVB.

I think he may be trying to get added heat. He reported 40° temps in attic last week. If their location hasn't changed, I believe he is counting on the added benefit.

Okay, but just be warned, it's going to be cooking in there! Most people will use a 50-75W bulb, whereas this is 100W. Just be careful and monitor the temperature VERY closely. I'd suggest a digital probe reader or a temp gun in this case.
