Melleri at the pet store

My wife came home from buying crix the other night and told me our local pet store got some new Chams...an Oustalet and some other big green and yellow one she said...I had to go and check it out! I was pretty surprised to see a full grown adult melleri in the enclosure. After my wife pried me away (and they came to mop up my drool) I looked at the price tag...$130!! Wow! I thought he would have been much more $$ than that! I wish I had the room to adopt him, but as I was reminded many times by my wife "there is no space left for more pets" LOL
Anyways, I dont know what my point was other than he was such a gorgeous cham and I want one now :D

yeah, but he was probably a wc, which have loads of parasites and are alot of work, your best bet would be to get a cb anyways

$130 is actually pretty steep for a WC Melleri. Most places sell them for between $75 and $95.
And they DO require lots of space! It makes me sad to think of what sort of enclosure they are probably keeping him/her in. Pet stores hardly ever do it right.:(

But if you want to get a nice healthy CB baby, Mike at FL Chams is selling them!

There is a very good chance that Mellers is a CB. I was at a Montreal importer/wholesaler about 6 weeks ago and he had a clutch of CB Mellers. Could very well have come from him.

I would be interested in knowing where guys like this are. I'm Canadian and the comment about the Montreal Importer surprises me. The Chameleon trade in Canada is in its infancy (in my opinion) although there is a lot of great work being done. I would like very much to get my hands on a melleri or two.

Someday i'm sure.

cheers.

The Melleri was a CB, apparantly from someone local who was culling his reptile collection. There were two originaly but one sold three days later. This is a kinda high end pet store(PRICEY-but they take good care of the animals)and he(or she?) is in a really large enclosure with all the right lighting. :D

Here in Montreal it is actually pretty rare to even see a small selection of herps in the pet stores. It would highly surprise me if anything I see was wild caught lol
