Hello everyone!
My name is John and my Chams name is Trunks. He is a male vieled and about five months old i suspect. Here is the story of how i came to get him. On the eve of christmas eve i recieved a call from my girlfriend to come over quickly, and as i live out of town it ment an immediate expendature of gas and about a 30 min drive. Naturally i assumed it was some kind of emergancy (sp?) as i've been called like this before to help w/ other kinds of things involving the elderly. well when i get there i was relieved everyone was okay, but kinda pissed that i made a (drop everything) run to her place for what i thought was nothing; then it happend i was invited to her room for what i thought was some alone time
, and there it was! the most adorable and amazing creature i've ever seen. a juvinile vieled chameleon.
Since that day i have worked and done so much research to get caught up on how to care for this living creature i think i got it. at first he was living in a glass aquarium that was about a 12x24x12 and since then i built a cage that now measures 3'x3'x5' and even got him his own Hibiscus which i've seen him munch on when he cruzes on by a bud. The watering is a bit difficult but i mist his cage and him about four times a day using ZooMed's Reptisafe water conditioner, and i also use Rep-Cal W/ D3 and feed him at least twice a day. The lighting i use is all Exo Terra, i have a 75wat moonlight bulb, an 18" Repti Glo 10.0 and a 100W Neodynium Basking Spot lamp. I am also pursuing Repti Glo 2.0 so i can raise the CRI in the cage and eventually a 24" Repti Glo 10.0 and 2.0 paired w/ an Exo Terra Light cycle unit. he seems pretty happy and eats well, but sometimes i see him go down and munch on some dirt. The Humidity hangs around 50-60%. well all i want to know is what am i lacking and what improvements can be made to ensure a long happy life?
