Meet Ernie

Hi Gang...... Im new here, Meet Ernie..... Ive had him a week now. He is a Ambilobe x Sambava cross from LLL Reptiles. These guys went quick! He is the replacement for Burt a Blue bar Ambilobe Who unfortunaty passed away about a month ago..... He was close to 5 yrs old. Im going to try breeding this time around....Once I am totally sure Ernie is a guy "LOL" Gotta build another cage. I think I have time.. EH?.... He doesnt show any pinkish colors and mostly grays,, so Im thinkin Ernie is a dude. What do you all think?? When I have more time I will post some pics of Burt...... He was real nice looking...... I would miss him alot ,but Ernie is filling in pretty well.

Ernies Home

Here are a couple pics of Burt when he was still young.... And now Ernie lives there,,,,,,, He's in there some where. Im going to build a bigger cage, This 1 is about 26x30x15. The hood is a modified Zilla. I put different sockets in it. Far left is a 100 watt blue day bulb, center is a 5.0 compact flouresent and on the right is a 50 watt Halogen. Burt liked it and he grew to very good size. The new home is going to be "WAY" bigger. When Ernie gets bigger his girl friend can live here Thanx for looking.... Dave

Hello Dave, welcome to the forum. Nice to meet you and Ernie. Erine is very pretty and looks like he is going to color into a real stud. Do you have any live plants? My chams seem to like the live plants better, just a ficus tree, an umbrella tree or a pothos. You can get any of those at Lowe's or Home depot. All chams like presents, even male chams, not just the girlie ones.

Hello Laurie.... Nice to meet you too! The new bigger cage will have some live plants. I just couldnt find the rite combo for the size of this cage for my dripper to make sure the drops made it into the tupperware catch, I cut the top away & installed screen. The catch also has a drain pipe that drains into a milk jug in the cabinet. The cage gets misted every 3 hrs.... & keeps the humidity where its suposed to be & a chance for Ernie to take a sip if he would rather. I have a very large Ficus tree in the living room for him to climb around on when I can keep an eye on him. I can hardly wait for him to start showing me some colors..... Dave
