mealworms an occasional treat?

Ive read some older threads on here and was wondering is it still a current idea that mealworms should only be offered as a treat for your chams? He's a 5 month old male panther Ive only had for about 5 days. Ive been feeding him crickets as a staple with some mealworms mixed in here and there that he seems to love. Also what would you guys recommend as other staple feeders alongside of crickets? Thanks in advance.

I think as long as their gutloaded well then they can be a good thing to throw into the mix every now and then. They can be hard to digest in large quantities. My cham will eat probably 5-10 a week with no problems

Try to keep mealworms below roughly 10% of diet.
Silkworms go well with crickets.
but the best is to use a wide variety of prey, and have no single prey type form more than 20% of the diet.
