these little buggers are taking over my viv and i was wondering about using ladybugs to clear out the invasion.. has any one done this before and how long will i have to wait for them to eat all of the eggs and larva.
I know they are toxic but how toxic are they really? will they leave eggs?
Ive tried washing my plants over and over but to no avail.
I really dont want to start over with the plants as ive been training them to grow to fill my viv.
it is about time i put her in her laying bed i also have a small holding tank. i can keep her out for up to a week at the most she is very shy and grumpy.

Ladybugs are toxic to chameleons. You could try a praying mantis or some other insect that is edible for the chameleon.

Cryptolaemus montrouzieri also eat mealybugs but I don't know if they are okay for chameleons to eat.
Lacewings also eat mealybugs.

Apparently ladybugs are harmful to chameleons. My chams will ignore them but I'm not sure if all chams will. Also, if you use ladybugs to contain an infestation, you may end up with an infestation of ladybugs instead, or if not both insects.

So ive released my little warriors onto the battlefield. now its just a waiting game. i only have about a dozen or so. im very curious as to how this is going to work out.

i dont have to worry about Lucy eating them, i moved her to another tank
for the time being.
right now there is about 15 adult flies in the air that i can count s i an only imagine how many others there are.

since ive not see much on doing this i wil share my expeice my keyboard is failing me ands very fustratng whn t type so not much detail willbee added i wil anwsr any questions hugh

I have never seen a mealey bug - are they toxic ? or eatable ? how big are they - can they be grown as a feeder for hatch-lings ? what if you release a army of pigmy chams in there cute vid/ btw - she was on the job w/ that spider !! lol

thanks.... flys are the size of a needle tip larva are the size of a small aphid dunno if they are toxic or not im sure if they were anthing would have to eat a billion to feel the effects lol i wouldnt want them anywhere on purpose

Are you sure you have mealy bugs and not fungus knats? Mealy bugs do not fly.

True mealy bugs are a common houseplant pest that are easily removed and killed using a mixture of dishsoap and water.

As Lynda suggested Lacewings are a great pest control. Chameleons love them!

the adult males are flys and are about 1/4 of the size of a fungus gnat

the ladys have escaped into my house and gone back into hibernation n my walls im assuming. soo ive started looking innto lacewigs but cannot find anyplace that ships to canada

these flys drive her bananas i watch her track them like she is gonna eat em

ive looked over the viv and seen no ladys but if i missed one will she die if she eats it?
