The first visit included an office visit fee of around $40, $25 for the calcium and another $25 for a Vitamin A shot. I had to go in 5 times total, but didn't have any additional office charges after the first one. So I guess it was around $200 total. My experience was with a beardie, but a shot is a shot. I can tell you that I could see a huge improvement in my beardie, but it took a few weeks. Good luck to you and your cham!
athena9995...a vitamin A shot for MBD????? Never heard of that. Unless its levels of D3 were very high I would think this would make MBD worse???

Normally MBD is treated by CALCIUM injections followed by CALCITONIN once the BLOOD CALCIUM LEVELS are high enough that the calcium drawn rapidly back into the bone will still leave enough calcium in the blood that the chameleon doesn't go into shock.

I assure you that my vet gave a Vitamin A shot, but only on the first visit. The rest of the visits were Calcium Gluconate.
I'm sure your vet did give it a vitamin A shot...I wasn't doubting that...I was wondering why?? Vitamin A and D3 are antagonistic to each other somewhat. Vitamin A (prEformed) may prevent the D3 from doing its job and push the beardie towards MBD...so if your beardie already has MBD IMHO it doesn't make any sense (since it might make it worse).

She said it was a bearded dragon. Maybe the protocol is different?
