what would be the max height for a veiled cham enclosure.
i was going to be building an enclosure 5fth x 2ftw x 2ftd. is this to big. and also where would you put heat and light sources just on top or additional else where

HA! There is no such thing as a chameleon enclosure that is too large for chameleon.

If you're looking to go big, then make a 5/6ftH X 3ftW X 2ftD.

Good luck,

The general rule is more room is better. A 5 foot high cage on a 3 foot high stand would put you to the ceiling, so measure before, not after!

I would suggest you give more room horizontally so there are more branches to travel and rest on.:D

Is this for a male or female? Males like a little bit more room. Whatever you build, make sure it fits through the door! Mine are 2x2x5ft tall and they just barely fit around corners and through the door lol. I built them in the basement and had to carry them upstairs (with help). It was a little tricky.

thanks for the advise.
when the enclosure is large do you still have heating and lights at the top or do i put more in else where

So when the cham. goes to the bottom of the cage to do explore, hunt, whatever, he will be okay if the heat cant reach the bottom?

yes. Your chameleon, provided that he is healthy, is smart enough to go up and bask for heat and uvb if he feels the need. In fact, having such area is a good thing. That gives him an option to escape from heat and uvb if necessary. Just make sure there is also an area where he can bask without obstructions.
