these are some photos of martian hes aprox.5-6 months of age.... noticeably small but i hear they grow in a spurt so maybe he just has not hit puberty yet haha. these pictures are from today i took them right before giving him his 7th day dose of baytril....yep he was popping and wheezing last week so i took him to the vet. his cage temperatures in the mid cage are 75-80 degrees and 88-95 in his basking area he has uvb light dripper uva basking light two live pothos in his cage. and his cage is 30 inches tall 20 deep and about 24 wide he just ate like 6-8 crickets. he has a purple stripe going down his back...i believe its from me overkilling the herptivite and using it every feeding its been 2 weeks since i used it and ive used it once since two weeks ago has any one ever seen this type of marking? give me some tips guys the vet didnt really tell me $#*! let me know if he looks alright or if you have any questions... hes also in the middle of shedding/his eyes look sunken in in the camera shots i tried to position him to where you can see there not if any one has a picture they can send me of a cham with sunken in eyes that would be great for refrence the vet said he did not look dehydrated /thanks

That purple stripe is a burn. Please fill this out and we can help you tweak your husbandry. A picture of the cage would be great!

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - veiled, male, Aprox. 5-6months of age in my care for 3 months
Handling - before he got sick i handled him 2-3 times a week for a few minutes
Feeding - 5-6 crickets everyday sometimes i miss a day or two. i feed my crickets fruits greens tomatoes all kinds of different things
Supplements - i use rep-cal and herptivite i was dusting crickets everytime i fed him...now repcal once a week and herptivite every other week
Watering - i mist few times a day 2-5 for at least 30 seconds sometimes a few minutes but i wait til the cage drops down in humidity before misting again i also have a dripper
Fecal Description - his droppings sometimes are brown and yellow and sometimes white hes never been tested
History - hes on baytril right now for popping and wheezing he was having trouble breathing....i think he caught it on a ride to the pet store to get checked out its cold here but i wrapped him in a tubber ware dish and brought him there the tub stayed 75 degrees the hole time i dont know what happend

Cage Info:
Cage Type - all screen cage except front door and floor are plexiglass its 30 inchs high and 24 by 24 roughly
Lighting - 730 am - 645 pm he has an r-zilla t8 its 5.0 im like positive and a 75 watt basking light exo-terra sunglo... he also has a flunkers indacent bulb 75watt however u spell it i need both bulb because his cage size and during the winter if not his temps will be like 65-70 during the day
Temperature -the mid cage is in the 80s 75-85 and the Lowest overnight temp is 69 the basking spot is 88-95degrees the floor of the cage is 70-76 but he rarely goes down there i measure these temps with two thermometer probes
Humidity - my humidity level always drops down to about 30-35% after i mist the cage its anywhere from 60-99% but i believe its only 99% because the water gets in the probe and it drops down to 70-60 fairly quickly after misting the cage i measure this with a hygrometer
Plants - fake and live two live pothos
Placement - its in the corner of my room near a heat vent for air circulation and some heat no one really comes in my room the cage is on a stand about 1.5 ft off the ground
Location Michigan

wow i dont understand how he could have burned himself he doesnt go close to the basking light he has three different branches of different levels under the lamp and he rarely ever is on the top one and ive never seen it over 95 degrees...... :( the purple mark has been going away slowly but it was equal on both sides of his body.....he can really get burned like that?

95 is even a little hot for an adult. Try bringing it down to 85-90 max. Are your lights raise above the top of th cage or sitting on it? Do not gutload with tomatoes, spinach, or broccoli. Tomatoes are toxic. He needs calcium without d3 5 times a week, a multivitamin once or twice a month, and calcium with d3 2-4 times a month depending on the brand. Yellow urate means he is dehydrated. Try to keep the humidity in the 50s when it is dry and around 70-99 when misting then have it hang around 60-70 for an hour or two after misting. Try to mist for at least 1-5 minutes.

Yes-they can and will burn themselves. Babies are notorious for staying right under a hot lamp for too long. Pssh had some good suggestions.

Can you post a picture of his cage?

lights are just sitting on top i lowered the branch down a bit il see what the temp comes out to shortly ive been running a humidifier in my room for the past 4-5 days and the humidity barely goes up idk what to do should i throw the crickets i fed tomatoes out? he just ate 8 or 9 of them

Yes, don't feed him those. IMG is the one you want not HTML. HTML doesn't work here. Don't lower the branch, raise the light. It's safer that way. Try covering two sides with shower curtain for humidity.

Overall it looks really good. I would just get the temps down and make sure he cannot get too close to the bulb.

Your cage is very bare, you may want to add more live plants to help with humidity and to give more cover for him. Also cover the bowl of water with screen so he can't get in.

he never gets close to the real plants hes always mid cage or higher...... should i buy 2 more pothos? i was thinking about buying a ficus tree but i dont know much about any of these plants and the chameleon....

i also fed the crickets mango is that bad?

Mango is okay, but high calcium leafy greens are better. Kale, collard greens, dandelion greens, and mustard greens are good to name a few. I use a ficus benjemina or however the heck you spell it. I like them and hibiscus the best. I somehow manage to kill the pothos I put in my veileds cage but not the one in my panthers cage.

Make sure to get your supplements in order as they are very important. Try to raise the basking lamp up a few inches so even if he is on the very top he won't get close enough to be burnt.

ya i talked to a vet who specializes in chameleons the other day he told me to feed them the same thing you said as soon as i goto the grocery store in the next day or two il grab that stuff. i managed to raise the light up on a tilt with a broken belt buckle.........i have a good feeling im going to kill my pothos i feel like i drown them when i mist the tank lol

You really need to treat that burn with an antiseptic oinment to avoid infection. Call the vet and ask them for some. Don't use Neosporin.
