Male yemen chameleon sat on the ground

Hello bit concered about my male chameleon, he's been sitting ont the floor of his cage for the past week not doing much and at time looks like he is stuck with his tail all curled up with eyes open.

he is 6 months old, gets a box of crickets every two days but takes his time eating them, offer wax worms but refusses them and eats alot of veg tho, quite thin

Drinks from his water fall and drinks from sprayer.

Spray him two times a day once in the morning and once just after his light goes off.

all round temp in viv is 70-75 with humidity of 65-75 and basking spot temp is 80-85

take him outside in the sun for an hour during sunny days to give him a bit of natural light

Very active normally always comes out when i put my hand in but scared of me latley

Getting a bit concered about him can someone help with some advice

why do you spray him after the lights are off? he needs to go to sleep - not be wet.

How many crickets are in a box? Are you dusting them with anything?

Just to keep a regular humid level throughout the day and night. There is around 10 - 15 a box and I dust his veg with calcium dust for reptiles

spraying at night will increase the risk of respitoty infections please stop the night time spraying it is not healthy at all not trying to be rude just a big no no
also the waterfall is a breading ground for bacteria so that should be replaced with a dripper imo

I agree its much better to find out what to do and changes that can be made to help your little guy. I personally do not use substrate on the bottom of my cage. Please fill out this info as it be very helpful for member to assist you.

Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?

not all substrates are bad i just wouldnt use that one
you are if im right that is some kinda of chopped wood
and that can be kinda bad hope

I am sure its a male got the bits on the back of his feet

Chameleons need fresh air. That glass enclosure will be hurting more than anything. Veileds need high humidity and heat and with a glass enclosure that will give him URI pretty easy.

Gutload, You also need to gutload the crickets. Give them good veggies and dry rub. Remember, all the stuff the crickets eat, your chameleon benefits from.

Make sure your tube bulb is suggest "repti-sun 5.0" they need the UVB in the bulb.

Bigger cage, he's way to big to be in such a small enclosure.

Suppliments, just put em on Repashy Ca+ daily dose, just a light dusting.

I may have repeated alot of what has already been said but these things will increase your chameleons life.

You may want to increase your humidity as well, get gauges, they arent just to swindle more money from you. They are important to monitor.

I know its going to cost more money but, think about it... A vet bill and dead chameleon will cost more... Just fix this now and use that viv for a frog or something

A properly ventilated enclosure that is mostly glass can work very well. Glass can be excellent in some environments. It is possibly the best enclosure in a very cold/dry climate.

Proper ventilation means air can flow from the bottom to the top. It's hard to tell from the picture, but most enclosures I've seen like that are properly ventilated.

However, the overall temperature is too high, so maybe it's not. But it's a myth that every glass enclosure is a death trap.

This just makes you one of the club...Many of us are here trying to figure out how much of what the store told us was not quite right or completely wrong.
