Male Veiled going to the bottom?

So Paco my male veiled chameleon keeps going down to the bottom of his plant, to the dirt, I keep finding him down there. I have no idea and I was wondering if you had any ideas. We bought him at 3 month at a reptile show. The breeder said he was a male and we verified between his siblings and our girl we had at home. I know female veileds do that, but he's a boy. His day temps reach 85f during the day (in basking) and 70f at night. He has a zoomed tropical uvb compact and reptisun compact. Right now he is fed crix, mealies, and supers. He gets plain calcium every feeding and multivit every other week and calcium with d3 every other week. I use Reptivite for the multivitamin and Reptical for the calciums. We've never had a fecal done. I'll post pictures as soon as my good camera is charged. Oh and please feel free to move this if it is in the wrong section.

Try getting rid of one of the UV lights. He is getting blasted with unwanted light.

That is a male for sure. You can tell by the back of the back feet...he has those little bumps called tarsal spurs. Also his colors are starting to come in and they are that of a male also. So now we know you do not have a girl, so no digging for egg laying. Like the other member said, you may have too much uvb going on. Why do you have two lights? There should only be one uvb, and one uva(basking)

We had two because we weren't sure if they were the right kind and when our female died we didn't want to waste a good bulb.

I would remove one of them. One is enough. It is worth a try and see if he stops going to the bottom. How big is your cage?

Take one light away and just save it for later since you are supposed to replace them every six months. It won't go to waste. If you want more light in the cage you can add some full spectrum cfl light bulbs.
