Male Veiled Color

I have had my male veiled for almost a month now (he is almost 6months old). He eats, drinks, and poops normally everyday. His enclosure is 30x18x36. Basking temp is 89-91, other end of cage is about 78. I mist 3-4 times a day. Humidity is always 55-65%. I have only handled him 1 time.

When he sleeps at night, he is always very beautiful to look at. In the day time though, when he is basking, he is always dark brown. He has been this way since the day i got him. He does venture down into his ficus trees and when he is in them, he turns green. But whenever he is out in the open, he is dark brown color. He never changes. Is this normal?

ya just what chameleonboy said :) my cham is always dark green when hes not on his plant  especially when hes going after food...i dont really know why

As mentioned above they will darken to absorb heat, yet thats not the only reason. Stress and discomfort will also cause the chameleon to darken, in addition you may also notice sunken in eyes.

There could be several contributing factors to his dark color, so it's best to rule out any husbandry errors early.

If the cage is in an area of moderate to high traffic, that can cause stress, along with improper temperatures.

I have a 5 mo Veiled male, and I keep his basking area at about 85-86 degrees. He will darken when he needs to warm up in the early morning, and at times when I do routine cage cleanings (stress related).

Post a photo of the chameleon and his enclosure if possible.

Unfortunately i do not have a camera :(

His cage is kept in my bedroom, however, this room doesnt see much action ;) It has almost Zero traffic. When i wake up in the morning and when i go to bed, and when i enter the room to mist and feed. Otherwise, the door is kept shut all day and has no traffic
