I recently started caring for a young male veiled chameleon, however I did something I almost never do with my reptiles and purchased him from a pet store rather than a breeder (I know, shame on me. I know better. But just look at that face!) That being said I have had him for a week and he is doing excellently!
No one seemed to know how old he is, but told me they believed 3 months. He is already quite large and I just wanted a more experienced eye to take a look and give a rough estimate so I can feed him properly.(Picture linked above)
Currently I am feeding him a mix of wax worms and crickets (gut loaded always and then coated in calcium powder e/o day) 7 wax worms or 6 large crickets per feeding twice daily. He does not always eat the full quantity, but this is not concerning as he is still adjusting and simply does not seem hungry. I only want to make sure I am meeting his developmental needs as this is my first chameleon. Thank you in advance!
