It appears to be a male to me, but to be positive we need a pic of the base of the tail. There should be a slight bulge present.

this may b a better picture for the base of the tail.

And how long does it take for the male ambilobes to get color?

Still hard to say. We need a good close up of the tail base. By the coloring I'd say male but not sure. He doesn't look to be 5 months though! Maybe 3.

How long have you had him?? Has it colored up at all that you have seen?? It looks a bit small for 5 months. Look in the classified section here and see the size others are at that age or younger. There are several that at three months are already colored up, that doesn't mean your will be the same, but it's possible at that young of an age.

I'm sure others will chime in :)

Are you positive about being 5 months old ??? Is this the same panther chameleon that you got back in the middle of September ???

I have a Kammer baby and he is just a month older (6 months) and he is MUCH larger than your little one. Ed and Liddy are very knowledgable, especially concerning the age and sex of their babies. Something just doesn't seem right unless he was the runt of the clutch.

This is the same chameleon that I talked about in september. he is actually 6 months old, now that I just looked at the container.

yes, i got this from kammerflage kreations. I talked to Liddy a bunch of times and she told me she thinks it a male but im just on here for second opinions. She told me that she thinks that it is a late bloomer. She also told me that she kept one and she sent me pictures of its brother and it is much larger and more colorful. The one that she sent a picture of only had more green though.

So im very concerned

Thanks for all the help

Winterhawk1960, you seem very knowlageable please give me more of your ideas so this way I can think and maybe ask Liddy and that can get some ideas in her mind to figure out what is wrong.

can you attach a pic of your kammer baby? since its about the same age.

They don't all grow at the same rate. Even from the same clutch. It looks to me like a young male & if you do not put a number on his age ,you have nothing to worry about. He will grow & his colors will come in at his own pace, just be patient & post some pics in a month & we will see the difference for you.

small cages lead to small chameleons., it's a fact that animals grow to the molding of their surroundings. my 3 month old female veieled's had a 48x48 since i got her. shes now 1 year old

He seems real small for 6 months..... What have you been feeding him & how much? My guy is 4 months.... I got him the last part of Nov. You can see the growth he has made. Ive been feeding him crix gut loaded with Repashy Bug Burger & Dinofuel & dusted daily with Repashy Calcium Plus. Im thinkin your guy needs a better diet! or maybe just more of it.Notice the size of Ernies head compared to the branch in the first pic ,compared to the second pic... Thats the same branch.. but the pic was taken from a greater distance

Genetics are a strange thing. Some are smaller than others and eventually they will grow and be as large as a full grown cham. Some people say theirs are soo much bigger, but it really doesn't matter. Genetics play a huge role and your chameleon will get big, regardless what others say about the size of their chams. You can buy a cham from me, screameleons, kammers, etc. and the genetic pool will vary. You can't say one breeders always has the biggest most colorful. Just be patient your guy will explode in size in no time.

1/2 inch crickets. 7 to 9 crickets a day. Ive been doing the bug burger and the repashy calcium plus. I dont know what going on I spoke to Liddy and she said its just a late bloomer and there is nothing to worry about. I just came on here for second opinions.

Where did you get your chameleon?

And what kind?

A lot of people are adding DinoFuel to bugburger with great success.

im going to just stick with the bug burger and see what happens. I dont want to change his diet because Liddy said that he is just a late bloomer, that is the only thing wrong.
