Male not interested in females?

Hey everybody.

I have a male Veiled chameleon around 2 years old, I have had dim since July and he had a few problems when I got him and I think alot of people will remember that :p, but on the good side he has recovered and is eating, sleeping, drinking, everything, temps are right etc.
Now that I have cleared that up I have a question.

Recently I introduced my females to him but he pays no interest to them just looks at her and does nothing.
I cant realy tell if the females are receptive so I held both to the male they both just cautiously look at him and do nothing, neither of them would turn black, hiss and gape etc.
Is there a specific time that Veileds will breed?
And just realy would like to know why he has no interest in them.
Oh and i have had one female and him together for about a week so maybe they would mate (but nothing) and he probably sees the females every day because there cages are next to each other, could he have no interest because he sees them everyday and its nothing new to him?

This is realy getting confusing to me.
If anyone wants to ask questions or see picture of the females seeing the male and vise versa just ask.

did you just show them to him?

i would either put him in ther cage or let them meet in a neutral ground. If you put him in her cage just let him hang out for a little bit in there and watch from a little distance and see how he acts.

If you do this though make sure you are prepared for the responsibility of raising the eggs/babies. ie-having pin head crickets available when they hatch and being able to properly house them with correct lights etc. that first 3 months that you raise them to selling age will probably have you very very familliar with whoever you get the pin heads from.

A receptive female will show blue and yellow spots. The best way to introduce them is to introduce the female to the male's cage. Stand by to make sure he won't be too aggressive with her.

Lance cham , i think you mean when shes gravid she will have blue and yellow spots , they dont get the yellow and blue spots from being receptive, being recpetive means she has calm colours and is not gaping or havin her front arm in the 'L' position and strutting her stuff in front of the male to be bred , after they breed the female will show her Gravid colours to other chameleons mostly males, that i have eggs so dont come near me or ill pour the ivory to yea , but sometimes females wont even show gravid colouration so alot of us will use a time line because female veileds will usually lay on average 20 to 40 days after mating , any longer and i would be worried and set up a vet checkup , and also soon as a female veiled lays her eggs its anywheres from 80 to 110 days after she will produce another clutch of eggs so you got to be ready and just watch her and if you dont have a lay bin in with her either wait till you see scratching or toss it in around that 80 day mark just to be sure and safe , but try introducing the female to your male i find females easier to handle then males because males are agressive and like to pour the ivory to yea lol , but as for not being into the ladies maybe he was kept with females for to long when he was growin up and isnt all horned up ahah cause usually male veileds are pretty crazy when it comes to breeding they usually just go at it soon as a female excepts him but maybe he might need some coaxing so just leave him be with the female for awile it might come back to him that he knows what to do lol but good luck and hope i helped some and if you need any advice pm me and ill try my best to help you

Great advice, but I'm going to have to agree with lancecham here.. when my female veiled is receptive she will show the blue and yellow spots.. she never been gravid so?

While most of our experience is with pardalis, we long ago noticed that about 5% (very rough estimate) of CBB males never show a desire to breed as adults, and therefore do not breed. They do not head-bob .. nothing. Not lovers. Not fighters. Nothing. Haven't noticed it in WC's, but also have about 10X more experience with CBB breeders. The occasional incidence of "she-beast" females that do not breed, and exhibit some male physical characteristics, in certain chameleon species indicates that sexual cross-wiring can occur. It could be a similar phenomenon with some otherwise outwardly appearing males. Good luck.

What is this "arm in the L position" thing? I have never heard of it nor viewed my veileds doing it. Of course if my female is receptive, my male doesn't give her much time to flash signals at him, he just knows. The last time I mated them he all but had her while she was still on my hand when I put her in his cage. He actually came charging down out of his basking spot and jumped on her. He is a real stud!

OK heres some pics.

This is his reaction to seeing both females.

And this is what the females looked like upon introduction.

Female 1 in males cage.

And the next female just before she was put into males cage.

And heres a pic of my one female a few months ago before I had my male.

After I saw her like this I though she was defenitely going to lay but she didnt, when I got my male a while after the time of this photo I introduced him to this female and she went all black and had blue and orange spots so she was suppose to lay and still didnt.
I didnt feed her like 10-20 crix every 3 days I fed her normaly still and I guess I didnt give her alot of calcium supplements because she still hasent laid eggs to this day and is not eggbound because she is still alive, I cant feel any eggs in her so I think she absorbed them.
I always had a laying bin in her cage when she was like this and she never showed any interest in digging or laying and was never put off her food.

oh musta been my females then because they didnt show any sign of being recepetive with colour change, and Bocajan the arm in the "L" position is a defensive posture , panther and veiled chameleons do it, in my experience when you piss them off or you are in there space i dont know how you have not witnessed it , almost every chameleon will do it as you try to handle them unless you have calm as heck chameleons

the arm in the "L" position is a defensive posture

I thought they were always waving at me !!! Or making an obscene arm gesture

I think it might be more accurately called an "apprehensive" posture, where the animal is positioning itself better for "flight", or at least a change of direction, rather than "fight".
