Male not interested in breed?!?

Hello everyone,

My female Nosy Be laid her first infertile clutch a couple weeks ago so I thought I'd introduce my male Nosy be to her for the first time today. She was receptive to him, but he didn't seem interested. He climbed on the branches around her for a little bit and then went off.

Does this normally happen? I thought all males (not just chameleons) were rearing to go. Do I need to put them in the same cage together for a few days?

Thanks in advance!

You can tryi holing a male that's interested close to the cage to give him some competition or maybe a bit of privacy but peek on them as the male could easily eat the female if he gets aggressive. I had a male that bred with my female one session and never showed interest in her again he just wanted a variety of females.

Like McLeod said competition. And unfortunately sometimes you will have a dud male that will never breed. Happened to me.but try the competition thing a few times . Also isolate them from eachother for two weeks three then put them together. Dont let them see no other chameleons. Good luck that worked for me once

If you have a large ficus or some other type tree you might try introducing them in neutral territory(outside either of their cages). I and some others on here have had success using that method.

My female was receptive to my male and he wanted nothing to do with her!! They would walk around in the living room and he would walk right by her and pay no attention to her. Then i put them in a ficus tree outside of their cages together and he still just sat there next to her with no interest in breeding. Next i tried putting him into her cage and left him in there for a few hours in another room where it was very quite and when i came back in to check on them they were mating :)
Now I'm waiting on my 35 eggs to hatch!! Still several months of waiting to go though. Dont give up and just be paitent with him
