how can you tell the difference between male and female vield chameleons? i just got one and i was curious.

If it is a male, it will have a "nub" coming off of his back feet. It is called a tarsal spur.

i thought the vield on there head would tell? like if it was longer it was a male shorter a female? thats not true?

Not really, I mean females casques are generally shorter, and they are generally less colorful (only shades of green and black, unless receptive when they show turquoise and yellow). But they are sexed by the spur.

Yes correct but only when they are of mature age. The best way to tell when they are young is the spur on the back feet is a male.

Males do tend to be bigger but the spur is the devinative way to tell from hatching
