male chameleon problem

I have a 7-10m old male. handled great (my best friend) I took a break away for 4 days and left my 23 year old daughter to feed and water. I have got back and the first this I did was try to get him out he has now turned evil he will not Ley any one by the tank and bites when you put your hand in I have tried spending time right by the tank with slow tiny movements but as soon as I get to the stage of 1-2 cm away he bites. I feel so bad for him and don't know whats wrong all temps and humidity are right and he is eating and shedding as normal (well he has shed twice in three weeks)

any advice please

Isn't it around this age, the males start to rock a little attitude? Maybe leaving him and coming back to this change is just a coincidence? If he's otherwise healthy, your husbandry is on point, maybe he's just growing up... getting some hair on his chest? He sounds like he's decided that his cage is HIS space. He's recently shed 2x so growing bigger. I don't know, I'm not a vet, just trying to help connect the dots. You could fill out the "How to Ask for Help" form in the Health Issue forum... that would allow others to see the details of your husbandry and maybe see something that could possibly cause the change?

I hope this is the case how long dose it take them to come out of the tantrum stage I have only ever kept females and neve had this happen before thanks

Definitely a pretty boy... XD Anyway, he does sound like he's being territorial. You might want to work on getting him to hand feed. Might get him to warm up to you again. Other than that, it may just be his decision that the cage is his and he needs to protect it. He may never get passed the territorial stage and he may. I know some that always have this issue once they start the hormones and some that get over it. But usually once they are outside of the cage they are better and once again curious and not aggressive. Often they will explore outside on their own so if you want to, you can get him to start out of the cage on like a stick or branch and then once away from it transfer him to you. And take him outside when possible, it will associate you with good things ^^
