Mako?

I have seen Mako Veileds advertised, all I can picture is a Mako shark...

What does Mako describe, and is it a "proper term" or is it not, in describing chams?

I'm not sure but would like to know. I've not seen it advertises but could it be referring to the babies father. Dad's name is Mako?
