Thats an awesome feeling! I remember the first time my Smurf came out to play. I normally just leave the door open now and he comes out when he wants. Congratulations on the progress!

How long did it take for him to finally get comfortable and play? Also, you might want to consider adding some horizontal branches in your cage for your chammy to walk on to get to you

When Argo was at my work I think He hated the cage he was in(It was a tank) He would rather climb in peoples hair and on shoulders than be in the cage. Not so much right now though. Still getting used to his new home. I hope he goes back to being holdable, but if not thats okay. Just means he's got a happy place. I hate leaving my house lol
I think in a month I'll try to hand feed him with some little super worms or something that won't hop or crawl to quickly out of my hand.
