I separated them from the Dubias at the end of April. I've had one female give birth to about 30 nymphs. Those nymphs are growing nicely. My question: what is the secret to breeding them?? I figured to have lots and lots of nymphs at this point. I have them in a tub at over 90 degrees. Oranges, bugburger w/dinofuel, carrots and other yummy food to feed them. What's up? Anyone with moderate success in breeding these guys? What am I missing?
 
They can take a while to reproduce. I've heard they can even delay birth to wait for a more favorable time (better conditions.) If I'm remembering correctly, they take about two months per birth anyways though.

I see. I've had some of them for almost 1/2 year. I have 6 males, 4 females and the 30 nymphs. The nymphs were separated immediately after birth. Thanks for the input!
 
I have left mine in with my dubias. I think they may do better in a more crowded environment. I also have heard they like higher humidity. Mine are doing good with new babies regularly.

I remember you saying this in another post! I just don't get it...good for you!
 
I also have heard they are a slower breeding species. Do you have a barrier? Maybe the nymphs keep escaping when very small.
 
Hey man raise your temps to 95. And they say they do fine with out substrate and they do as big nymphs but as adults and new borns I think they need the substrate. I use Eco earth about a 1 in. In the bottom and cork wood for them to climb and hide on . Egg creates will mold on to of eco earth that's why I use cork wood. Make sure the Eco earth stays damp but not wet and watch them pop out babies every month :) I have been there were they won't breed because they didn't like there set up. Try what I said and see if that helps :)

Good stuff, TR! I just added the substrate last week and this week one gal gives birth. Coincidence? I mist the sides of the container as to not get the substrate wet. I'll get something to replace the egg crates. Thanks!
