about 2 months ago, i sold my friends netherland dwarf rabbit for her since she was in the middle of a move, in between jobs and what not, like my situation, too many animals was getting too overwhelming to care for.

anyways, i go on kijiji a few minutes ago, and there she is, peanut back up for sale :( i'm gonna suprise my friend and buy her back for her since she is doing a lot better on her feet now, and i know she never wanted to sell her in the first place. so i hope this incident makes her christmas that much better :)

That is a sweet thing to do for your friend. Hopefully the bunny recognizes her when she gets it back. ;)

Phil got the bunny back, then he ate him...ha! No really, what is the end of the story?

u guys are buttholes! lol..

1) yes, i got the bunny back. was in great condition
2) yes, my friend was so happy she could barely even talk. she snuggled with it for a good 10 minutes before she had to go to work
3) FRIEND SUDDENLY DEVELOPS SEVERE ALLERGY DUE TO THE RABBIT

4) Currently have no idea what's going on

Eltortu, i'm gonna kick you lol.

Wow...... How does 1 get an allergie from a pet they already had?

absolutely no idea. but she sounded like complete crap that night when i talked to her. and it was ONLY when she was downstairs with the rabbit. soon as she'd go upstairs, she'd clear up after a little bit.

Wow that sucks. Perhaps it's something the bunny was bathed with? It might be worth a try to wash him up and see what happens.

But it does happen, I volunteered at vet clinics for years as a teen and one day randomly I developed a severe allergy to cats and have been really allergic ever since. And it's an animal I've had contact with for years and years. Stuff happens.

unfortunately it is a netherlands dwarf rabbit, and in the care she read, they are pretty delicate rabbits, cannot be bathed or they can catch colds very easy. :( that's what i initially suggested too

Hmm, I would talk to her vet about that then. It may be true, I don't know anything about rabbits, but it seems like over-worrying. Like these guys wouldn't be exposed to rain and snow in the Netherlands? lol But who knows, maybe that's true. Perhaps her vet could explain to her how to do it so that he isn't put at risk? Like bathing and then leaving in a heated cage/room to dry. Because if the allergen is ON him, then this is the best course of action!

Otherwise, don't know what to say. Sounds like she either needs to get medical help to overcome the allergy, give him away, or find a way to house him outside in a comfortable enclosure. Sucky situation!
