Lucifer - Ambanja Panther?

New Member
Here is my newest addition, 7 months old, Lucifer. I've been told he is a Red Ambanja???

He is not to be crossed with anything but I thought it was red barred or blue barred when it comes to Ambanja and am still learning.

Any input/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

That is some very nice coloring on him. :) I'm pretty sure he is a red barred, but someone correct me if I'm wrong?

He looks to me to be a Red Bar Ambilobe. Generally you will find that the Ambanjas will have a more pronounced rostrum.

He is a pretty cham either way and looks healthy!

Hope this helps,

Todd

I agree. I would have guessed red bar ambilobe as well, but I'm no panther expert

I feel like he has some Sambava in him. His scull structure and coloration look like Sambava crossed with some west coast locale...Ambi or Amba would be safe bets.

Such amazing creatures they are. I got some sleeping pics tonight. No matter how many I see I will never get over how some have such a drastic difference in coloring depending on situation.
When I picked this guy up, he was grayish blue...no green no red. Got him home opened up the box and one would have thought it was a different animal.

Yeah exactly, all the panther have different "Noses" but for some reason the Nosy Be's is the largest :p

He looks great, and i agree i think hes a Red Bar Ambi.

Updated pics

It's almost been a month now, so I've snapped a couple new pics of Lucifer.

He is quite the character, he is the one I've posted in another thread as the one who always wants to come out when he sees me. I use a twig to bring him out, and when it's time to return, he flips so fast and goes up my arm. I'm sure if I let him he'd hang out behind my neck for the day.

Anyways, here's a picture from today while I had him out to clean cages, I placed him finally on small plant on my table so I could clean. LOL.

The picture of him on the twig was when I first brought him out...the craziest thing I've seen is he tries to eat the twig! I even put a horn worm on it (already had 2 silkies earlier) but he preferred to chomp on the branch.

10 months old now

I showed Lucifer is future girlfriends today and what better time to update his pictures. I just love the colors coming in on him, not too mention his fired up ones!

After I put him back in his cage, turned quickly thinking I should let him go back to the girls.

Thanks for checking him out :)

I still hold strong to my original thought...ambilobe x sambava...the face shows very hard sambava traits.

He's pretty and good job, he looks very healthy!!!
