Lost our baby

Our Jackson's was about 2 weeks old and he did not make it today. We had everything setup perfect for him. He was even still eating and drinking. It looked like he started have a problem with his balance yesterday evening.
I was really hoping the little guy would make it.

Anyone in Houston looking for fruit flies..... Our cultures just exploded with flies.

We think this is the reason for the death....
Our friend got a young female and she ended up having 7 babies and she did not have the means to care for them. We got one of them. I know the mother was not full grown. I think she was too young to have a clutch. We are not sure how the other babies are doing. We picked out the most active and colorful one.

Hatchling jax are very touchy. Among other risks, they can aspirate water droplets that are too large to handle, are sensitive to temp and humidity levels too. Sorry you lost it! The mother's age may have nothing to do with it really, but her nutritional state could have produced weak babies.

We are not giving up. We are gonna keep an out out for any rescues before we consider buying another one.

I'm so sorry to hear this!
I actually would advise that you do the opposite. Buy a healthy, older chameleon from a reputable breeder and gain your footing with the type of animals these are. Once you've dominated caring for a chameleon for about a year, give or take, you can take on rescues who may or may not have issues. This way you are experienced enough to give them a good fighting chance.

I know it's tempting to take on rescues as the noble thing to do, but it's wiser to gain some experience first. Otherwise it's like taking on a marathon before you've learned how to run!
