Lost Chameleon help??

My friend Sam has a veiled chameleon she bought from Petco and it was as big as her pinkie. She must have the wrong kind of cage because it escaped and she can't find him. She set up a light and worms as bait. Any ideas what she should do?

wait till it gets dark.
useing a flashlight... search nooks and crannies.
high places
near windows.
blinds.
anything electronic, like the wires.

Did you check the cage REALLY good. If she is that small she could be hiding. My cham is full grown and when he is in his outdoor cage there have been times I have panicked and thought he somehow escaped but he was blending in very good with the foilage. Just a thought to double check. Check at night with a flashlight as camimom said. Do you have any cats in the house? What kind of cage is it?

Ditto, please take a look good inside the cages, i have big chams that hide right in front of me with the foliage.

I would say that is not a good sign. If it was an adult yes, but even with an adult cham there is the dehydration issue. Being a baby, I would have to be worried right now.If it were warm weather and outside, I would say yes, but inside....I don't know.

Could you take pictures of the enclosure? Sometimes people can find things in pictures that aren't obvious "in real life".

aww,
check the cage thoroughly - like, strip it down to make sure it is DEFINITELY not in there.
then if you put a heat lamp up somewhere high and some vines or something leading upwards, leave that running, make sure doors windows etc are closed and close the curtains too. you want to draw the chameleon towards the warmth - they like being as high as they can get where they think it is warmest.
then get a torch and check all the dark spaces because if it's frightened it will be hiding there. once youve checked, block it off (gaps under desks, under bed etc) with books so it cant go under there. eventually it will have no where to hide and you'll find it. or it will be basking by your heat lamp.

if you have problems getting a heat lamp on the wall, i use sticky hooks, you can get them in tool shops or £1 stores, be careful removing them though because they tend to take the walls with them.

I lost Tobias for a short while, but he was right in front of me (I guess they change colors or something )

:'( yeah <3 he was a good chameleon. She didn't act like she cared when she found him. i cared and he's not even mine!!...its okay though he's up in Madagascar heaven.
