I am still unsure if I weill go with abbiloves or simbavas, looking for a nice pair for pets and possibly breeding anyone have a preference on the two kinds?

If you have never kept chams before you may want to skip buying a pair of anything. Sometimes it's easier to start with just one and see how your husbandry works out. They are amazing creatures and the urge to buy as many as you can is often hard to control. The cham will be the least expensive thing associated with the proper care and upkeep of a chameleon. A male panther or veiled are often recommended as good first pets if for no other reason than they tend to deal with husbandry mistakes a bit better than some of the more care intensive ones. You will get many opinions as some folks feel that females offer no more challenge than a male but egg laying stress ( whether the female is bred or not ) can be rough on the cham and the owner. So I tend to lean more towards males than females for first time owners.

As for site sponsors, I only have experience with food vendors. Actually I take that back I have dealt with the Kamers before and they provide an outstanding service. I haven't purchased from them in several years but Ed and Liddy have great stock. I believe the sponsors here to have great concern for providing a good product to the members.

Good luck with whatever direction you take and remember there will always be somebody who raises chameleons another way than what might be more successful for you so be open to more than one school of thought .

I would read read read then read some more. Buy one, then if you can keep it healthy, get another one later.

I like sambavas. My male panther is from Patron (check out my threads to see him.)

Chameleons Northwest is run by good people and they will take care of you. If you follow their instructions carefully you will have no problem with a pair. The only thing you need to do is read a lot and save a little cash!
