Looking to get my first chameleon

As the title says, I've never owned a chameleon but I'm looking to change that soon!
I think I've settled on a blue barred ambilobe panther chameleon as my lizard of choice, but I would like some advice about where I could get young male for a good price. preferably from a company with a good reputation for health and color.
I also need to get some info about habitats for chameleons. I stumbled upon The Panther Palace, which seems like a great value for it's size, so I was wondering if anyone owns one or has used one and could offer any info or insight on these and cages in general.

Before the obligatory links to research pages for new owners, I've read every care sheet I could get my hands on and read everything the internet has to offer about cages and what to look for.
I'm more hoping to get some first had experience info and tips.

Thanks all!

hey there, welcome to the forums. first off, if you click on resources on the green bar at the top of your screen and on the left look for "caresheets" then click on the chameleon your looking to get, it will provide a plethora of info that includes temps, humidity, food and such.

That is a nice cage, but I really like the DIY cages. they are a site sponser so that's a ++++ as well.

if you scroll down towards the bottom of the page you will see a list of site sponsers whom of which will find breeders and other websites to find the rest of your husbandry items.

also on the left of the screen is a section named classifieds. it will take you to a screen where you can select "chameleons for sale". Its also a good place to find good breeders and great looking chams.

good luck, your at the right website, tons of knowledge on here so don't be afraid to ask.

If your looking for cages and supplies I got my whole set up from like amazon and a few other places payed like 150 for everything I needed and as for as breeder I went with chameleon paradise you pay s little more then some places but also cheaper than some and you know you are getting a good product as in health and color and everyone else that bought from there all say to say the same thing So if I were you I'd look into that and just look around on cages and supplies cause you can save a lot of money doing that

Thanks for the info and advice.
Makes me feel a bit more confident about the equipment I've chosen.
Chameleons Paradise was one of the breeders I was looking at. They are near the top of my price range, but if that ensures a great looking, healthy chameleon, I'm all for it.
What do you think about places like Chaneleon Company and Backwater Reptiles?

Jim from Chameleon Company has been around for a long time and is a member on here. I have never dealt with him personally, but I know many others on here who have with good results. Backwater...well let's just say that would not be my choice. If you want to check out any complaints against Reptile Breeders in general go to the Fauna Classifieds website. They have a thing called BOI(Board of Inquiry) where buyers can report negative dealings with vendors. You can check out if any of the people you are considering buying from have a good reputation.

Awesome!
Thanks for the tip!

I'm definitely not opposed to paying what it takes to get a chameleon that will have stunning colors and contrast, so if anyone has a breeder they swear by, let me know.

Like everyone will tell you if u go with a site sponsor your gonna get something good and you get what you pay for but of you get a young one no one can guarantee what there gonna look like so maybe you just get something a little older that way you have a better idea of what your gonna get
