Looking for RECOMMENDED temperature!

Hey everybody,
I am very new to not only the Chameleon Forum, but also forums in general.
This thread is for an around 1-2 months old Veiled Chameleon.

I'm planning to get a Veiled Chameleon soon and currently trying to get my enclosure/basking/humidity to a recommended/correct level, so I've been doing researches and getting different "recommended" enclosure/basking temperatures and humidity; many resources I'm getting the recommended temperatures are all giving different temperatures.

Also, if anyone can recommend the best ANALOG gauges would be a great help because for some reason I don't believe the temperatures that my Exo-Terra Analog gauges are reading. I've looked into product reviews, but they're always 5 stars and 1 star for different ones. I've looked into(i.e. Exo-Terra, ZooMed & Penn Plax Reptology).

Thanks for the help!!! :)

Check these links out, they have very useful info.

As for checking temps I use this exact temp gun, it hasnt let me down and I always compare it to make sure it has accurate temp. I've even checked it with a high dollar temp gun and it is spot on. Good luck and happy cham keeping:)

Thanks so much for your reply! Now I can average out all the different recommended temperatures :) and going to order that temp gun!

Hello, welcome to the forum :) We like people who do the research before getting the Chameleon......
The analogue thermometers are pretty much all bad really. Digital probes or temp guns are the way forward :)
The links above are great, but here's one more to add to your collection - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html
Do you have an automated mister? If you are hand misting it's much easier to use a pump-up sprayer like these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Exo-Terra-Mister-Pump-up-Sprayer-PT2491/dp/B004CJS7XW/ref=pd_sxp_f_i (it's usually a lot cheaper to get it from a garden centre though........)

Thanks for the great addition to my collection of resources!

I've purchased a Mist King starter kit with the timer that cost me quite a bit  so I was trying to stick to analog gauges so save a few bucks, but it seems that a temp gun is recommended for proper temperature readings.

Ohh good a mist king, nice purchase. It makes things a lot easier when you have everything setup and you know your info.
A temp gun i really recommend so you can get your chams exact temp while basking. Also you can check the temp any where in the cage with ease!
Where do you plan on getting your cham?

I'll be picking up my new Chameleon at a local reptile shop called Amazon Reptile Center. I can't find any other place and I just missed a Reptile Show Expo that had super sales not too long ago, but I was not ready to get a Chameleon yet :(
