Looking for advice ASAP

I go to an alternative education centre and we have recently got a Veiled Chameleon (he's roughly 8 months old) and he has extreme swelling around all four of his 'ankles' and slightly sunken eyes. I've been worrying about him but I've just been told it's calcium deficiency (I highly doubt it but I want to make sure before I advise to take him to the vets). He's very tame and is happy to come out for a little bit, his swelling doesn't seem to effect his movements but he does grasp fairly firmly (I'm guessing for support but I could be wrong). He also has a fleshy lump that's on his shoulder area that I'm concerned about, it's not hard and he doesn't show any signs of stress when you touch it but it's worrying me quite a lot. I Just really need someone to suggest what it could be or any advice for reassurance. I can't stand to know that he might be suffering.
I have no idea to attach photos as I am on my phone but I'm going to try to figure out how to.

Swelling around joints can be gout, but without specific information describing what he was fed and how he was supplemented it would be hard to eliminate other problems such as injuries or Metabolic Bone Disease (the end result of improper calcium supplementation and incorrect lighting). Sunken eyes can be a symptom of several things including dehydration and general poor health. I think we could tell you more with a decent picture as well as a description of what his former owners fed him, what brand of cage lighting they used, what supplements they used and how often. At the top of this forum there's a sticky message titled "how to ask for help". Answer the questions as much as you can, as they will help us figure out what he needs.

He's eating and drinking fine and he's going to the vets on Tuesday so I hope I can get some answers then. I've uploaded pictures on my profile. I've been looking at pictures of chameleons with swellings but I've seen nothing like it. But I'm happy that he's actua going to a specialist vet so even if it is bad news we can at least do something to help :)

I'm glad you are taking him to the vet, that's very responsible. It could be any number of things from physical injury, dehydrations, MBD from deficiency, even over supplementation. Just make sure the little guy has plenty of water in the mean time and is on a regular lighting cycle that won't be disturbed in lights off period by outside lighting or noise. Good luck! Keep us posted
