Livening up my cage.

Does anyone know of any flowers/plants I could use to brighten up my cage? I live in KY so I can't have a Hibiscus. I would like to add something colorful to Bodhi's cage. I'm at Home Depot now so if anyone could answer now, that would be great.

I have ficus, it looks great and is not toxic. Another nice one is bamboo they LOVE it but it's not good for them. I reccomend u just go to lowes or Walmart and buy whatever u like. That's what I did. Just be sure to change the soil. Fertilizer can kill chameleons. Glad I could help (I think)

Add a 6500K light, and watch the jungle begin to grow. Or I add orchids from time to time to add a little color.

Thank you. That is exactly what I was looking for. I have an Umbrella and a Ficus. I'm wanting something with color just like an Orchid. I heard those are hard to keep but I wouldn't mind replacing them. Could you elaborate on this 6500k light? I've been researching lighting for my plants but can't understand anything in the articles. All I have in his cage is a 75 watt heat bulb and a 5.0 linear Exo Terra UVB bulb. I've really been wanting to add some LED to help the plants but I'm at a loss. With the 6500k light.. could I get that at Lowes or Home Depot? What's the difference between those and the 5.0 I have in Bodhi's cage? I'm not well versed in this area and I've really been trying to find someone who can help me out. I need my plants to grow before Bodhi gets too big.

6500 Kelvin is about the highest light output you can get at a Home Depot or Lowes in a fluorescent tube. You can easily get two bulb fixture, and put the 5.0 UVB in one and the 6500K in the other. I'll have to take a picture of one of my enclosures this weekend. Showing the before and after plant growth.

Thank you. I was looking at the 6500K today at Lowes. That wouldn't be too much for my Cham would it? I'm about to get an Ambilobe so I might wait until he is in his adult cage and get one big fixture. I notice they sell fixtures to hold the linear bulbs. I bought a fish tank one for my Cham's 5.0. It would probably be cheaper if I bought it there. The problem is, they have those glass things covering up the bulb. I assume they are removable.

The 6500k lights are fine for your chams. It's just helps your plants grow and it also brightens up your cage. I'd buy one from home depot or lowes since they are probably cheaper. It does the same thing as the ones you buy from a reptile company. If you can remove the glass cover, I would remove it.

Yes the 6500k is fine, lots of people use them ;)

I use fixtures from hardware stores.
You can find them with end pieces, that hold on a clear "light diffuser".
The plastic "light diffuser" is removable, and the end pieces hold it up off the enclosure;)

I use a fishtank one like you do for my 5.0 since I had it already, then a hardware store one that holds a 6500k and a regular "soft white" bulb for extra light.
