Hi I recently took out the eco-earth coconut fiber that I had in my chameleons terrarium and while I was taking it out I noticed there was a little plant growing in it. I have no idea what type of plant it was or how it even came to be in there. So I was just wondering how do you guys have real plants set up in a terrarium with newspaper? I'm not sure how to go about getting one in there and keeping up with it.
 
Potted plants can do very well. We have to learn a bit about plants as part of being keepers.
Plants should be chosen for lighting, watering/drainage, and lighting needs.

Placing smooth river pebbles (too large for a chameleon to swallow) on top of the soil can help prevent chams from eating soil (should they be so inclined) and both help keep moisture in and work as a watershed from too much water. Note that many plants should dry out near completely between waterings—that's part of watering & drainage needs.
