Live Plants in Enclosures

Hello,

I have a live plant in my chameleons cage but i'm worried about him ingesting the potting soil if he catches a cricket that is in walking around in the pot. My question is, what can i put on top of the soil to prevent this from happening? I've thought of a few things but all my solutions would cause another problem with the crickets hiding under whatever i put on there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

That's a very valid concern! River rocks bigger than your cham's head (so he can't accidentally eat those) or window screen work really well to cover soil. Just cut a circle of screen as big as the pot and slits from the edge into where the stems come out and it can be one continuous piece so it won't move. River rocks are easy and cheap.

The screen is a great idea! So i'm thinking i'll cut the screen like you said and then put some rocks around the edges so crickets can't get under it and hide. Thank you very much!
