Little green squares...

Has anyone ever pointed their cursor at the little green squares at the right of each post beneath the number of posts?? Who came up with what it says??

After 5 "green squares" they turn light green, as far as I've seen.

Not sure if Brad has adjusted the amounts but here is what has been gathered..
