I have finished constructing my cage, bought a 26 watt 5.0 uvb bulb...the kind that looks like the energy effecient bulbs...and i also bought a 100 watt night heat bulb. Is this sufficientfor a 2x2x4 cage? I also got some fungus ledge decor from hobby lobby, which i believe is real fungus that has been dried and treated...would those pose any problems?
I am buying a blue bar ambilobe panther...

i dont know why no one said anything yet but i do believe the uvb light you got is a BIG no no...it can cause your chameleon to go blind....im not to sure about the night heat bulb....what is the temp at night? it cant be below 60.....not sure about the fungus decor.....hopefully someone can help ya out better.....

I believe you are talking about a coil bulb, some brands can cause eye problems and can even cause your chameleon to go blind. Most people recommend Repti Sun 5.0 linear bulb. http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog...por-bulbs/-/zoo-med-15-repti-sun-50-uvb-bulb/

How cold does it get in your house? you may not need a night heat bulb if the temp doesn't drop below 60.

I'm not sure about the fungus decor but if there is any parts that can be ingested by the chameleon I wouldn't use it. If your chameleon decides to chomp at it he/she can become impacted

i have my cage constructed, and have bought vines and things for the inside, just wondering about the lighting. The coils saved me like fifty bucks between the lamp and bulb together, so i figured i would just ask. Thanks, i will go exchange for the linear bulb today.

It's cheapest to buy a reptisun 5.0 on lllreptile.com then buy a fixture/hood at homedepot or wallmart for 10-15 bucks.

Ah, great idea. Thank you. They have those bulbs here for 20 or 30, so thats better than shipping. I didnt think about getting the hood elsewhere
