I have been thinking of changing my lights over for a long time now. I use a T5 uvb right now and I'm sick of all the lights because I have many tanks just wondering if someone has any suggestions. They're all Panther chameleons. And wondering because I get different conflicting reports on UVA. if it's necessary. And also what wattage. Any suggestions welcome I appreciate it. Thank you

If you pair your UVB linear bulbs with a daylight bulb, 5000-6500k, then you are providing the spectrum they need to be psychologically stimulated. You should be able to get by with a single dual tube T5 and one basking bulb, per cage. If you don't like the T5s, use one of the 70 or 100 watt Mercury Vapor bulbs and a full spectrum basking bulb, and place them at either ends of the cage, so there is a deadliest of temps and UVB. This advice depends on your set-up and space between the animals and the lights, of course. I recommend lightyourreptiles.com for your bulbs and help customizing your set-up.

I have 5 large tanks altogether separated by petitioners. And then two more on the other side of the room that are really big so I was wondering if I could just get large lights and put them on my ceiling. I will check that website out thank you very much

You may be able to place Mercury Vapor bulbs on your ceiling and use a full spectrum basking light, but it depends on the distance from ceiling to cage, type of screen, and other variables. Todd at lightyourreptiles is a wonderful resource.

Todd was more than helpful with me. I'm upgrading all my enclosures to T5 HO Arcadia bulb with a full spectrum bulb for the plants. He has dual fixtures meet my needs perfectly and a 10% off sale going on for Labor Day

They're pretty close to the ceiling I have a about 11 inches to the tanks. So I was wondering if I could hang two to run 5 tanks three 30 x 24 and two 18 x 18. Thanks

You'd need at least 3 100 watt MV bulbs, minimum and 5 basking bulbs, probably not hung from your ceiling, as the heat will dissipated too much, unless you use a hook and zip tie the cord in place to get the basking bulb where it needs to be. Honestly, that doesn't seem like an ideal scenario as all. I'd think you'd be better with a combination of T5s and basking bulbs, but talk to Todd, because he knows the capabilities of the products, inside and out, while I do not.
