Lighting

I bought an Exo terra light canopy for my chameleon that's 17 in long and hold two compact fluorescent lights. Should I use this or buy a long skinny fluorescent light tubes and fixture instead? Let me know opinions please

I would suggest the tube type for better coverage. The smaller compact bulbs are a bit too directional and would only cover a small area.

Depends on your budget. Lowes and HD will be cheaper, but they wont have the UVB's so you will have to get them elsewhere. If you are looking for other options you could check out Light Your Reptiles... a site sponsor. http://www.lightyourreptiles.com/ Todd has some great stuff. I like the option for more than 1 bulb per fixture if you need a plant light as well. Here's a look at my setup. I love my Arcadia fixture! https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/decadancin/754-winter-lighting-schedule.html
The T5 HO bulbs are what I use.

Another possibility is to check the forum classifieds. https://www.chameleonforums.com/chameleon-supplies-sale/ or list your need in the "wanted" section https://www.chameleonforums.com/wanted-ads/.

I use the exo terra top with the compact coil bulbs, and have been for nearly a year with no problems. The top has reflectors in it so it distribute the light better. Hope this helps.
