ok i bought a fixture(florescent tube) from walmart for the UVB

there are 2 bulb spots and i bought a 5.0 for my veiled i was wondering if i should get another bulb(UVB) to put in the extra space?

can i leave the extra bulb(it came with 2 regular florescent bulbs) in there with the uvb? or will this affect the output some how?

i dont want to over do it with the UVB but i dont want to leave the extra bulb in their if it will interfere with the UVB

i also dont want to leave it empty should i maybe get a 2.0 also

i have heard different bulb out puts mixed together are good for them 2?

thanks

How big is the cage? Maybe you could put a plant light in the second socket for your plants? If you have live plants...

I have a 5.0 linear tube from ZooMed (repti-sun)
and a full spectrum fluorescent (plant light) in the double fixture that runs over my enclosures.

it is only a 10g now b/c he is a baby

i will probably have live plants in his grown up viv so i guess i will just buy a plant bulb

what should the nm out put be?

or does it not matter?

i will probably just have pothos maybe some sort of tree but not sure what kind yet

where is a cheep place to buy plants?

they are so expensive around here i can not get a decent sized one for less than $30 and i prefer not to spend that much on a plant that is probably going to get chewed up or will die(i am horrible at keeping plants alive lol

i had a pothos in my water dragon enclosure and it dies after a few months lol

i have heard they are about the easiest to care for so i will probably kill all of the others too lol

thanks

i bought 1 large ficus for my adult chameleon for 22 bucks at Lowes.
Walmart, home depot, target, and lowes sell many plants under 30 bucks.
Check around.

(I'm guessing you are in US, since you do not put the location under your profile).

yes i am but where i live the only plants around that are appropriat for chams

at meijer are pothos (other than that they have cactus and orchids and some palm trees) and walmart has nothing but cactus and orchids and usually some small flowering plants like african violets and rose bushes)

i have only found a ficas at meijer 2 times and they were 35.99

i have not tried home depot/ lowes yet so i will look there maybe tomorrow

i dont think out target even has plants if so i dont know where they keep them b/c i have never seen them before(maybe they hide them? lol)

but anyway i have an awful time finding plants

i guess maybe i will look up some local plant shops and hopefully they will have something i can use

thanks

Howdy,

Take a look for Schefflera. They can be found under a foot to several feet tall. They are relatively cheap too. They work great for hatchlings to big adults.

I can't believe you haven't tried Home Depot.
It is THE place to get your plants.
$10.98 for Schefflera and Ficus
$7.98 for Pothos
Make sure to wash them well!
