Lighting Times

I am getting my auto timers set for my cage and I wanted to know how important is it to stay right on 12 hours dark and 12 hours light. If I cut their light to 13 hours light and 11 dark would that mess them up to bad? Or even 12 half hours light and 11 half dark. I just want to match them up with the best lighting schedule I can. Just hearing what you all do for yours would be nice as well. Thank you guys!

I found that they will get on a pattern and stress a bit when the pattern is altered... It is important that they have this down time in light because it helps balance their systems.. I would say stick to a 12 on 12 off pattern.. They'll appreciate it.. My guys will be in their spots early as if WAITING for the lights to turn off and they are up promptly when the lights turn on.. But this is just MHO...

I agree, mine are 12/12 all year.

I've got my timers set for 10 hours without light currently due to the strange daylight cycle, generally the light goes off at 11PM and comes on at 9AM. I'm thinking of changing it to off at 9 and on at 9 but there is quite a bit of movement around the house after 9 and some before 9 (And as many times as I've told my dad not to, he tends to leave the back door open at around 10PM letting lots of cold air in). I fear it getting too cold in this English weather (Summer my arse) within 12 hours, but he seems happy to have them off for 10.

Ok great, thank you guys. I am going to keep it on a 12/12 cycle. Maybe slip in a extra 15 min daylight so I can enjoy them in the morning a little longer :D
