Lighting terrarium

I see a lot of people use normal house bulbs, flood lights, or porch lights on their set ups. Do these types of bulbs make a nice basking spot or are they just to add more light to the chameleons cage?! I would love some input so I can stop wasting money on reptil basking bulbs that are over priced at pet stores

They are all for basking bulbs.

Yes they are used to provide heat and light. Be sure to measure temp carefully when trying new bulbs as the heat output and hot spot can change greatly from one bulb to another.

What kind of bulbs are recommended regular house bulbs? I found a brooder heat lamp as well

I don't think it matters. I have used clear and white bulbs. They both do the same thing. And yes, just plain old housebulbs. Your wattage will depend on your individual situation.
