Lighting help for new enclosures

Hi everyone,

I have a veiled named taco, about a year old. I just got a new panther from nice Chams who will be arriving on Tuesday.

Taco has been in an exoterra glass enclosure for a few months now but I decided to order two new reptibreeZe XL for taco and his new friend.

That being said, all I know about setting stuff up I learned from petsmart which scares me.

Right now, taco has a blue daytime heat light and two UVB100 bulbs on all day and a red night heat light on all night with all the other lights off.

That's what petsmart told me to do anyhow. I feel like after researching, that is incorrect?

With the new cages I will need new Canopies and lights, so knowing I will have two 48" tall mesh cages, can you guys help me with exactly what bulbs, how many, and what canopy and dome I should have for each cage?

Thank you.

I have attached a coupe of pics of my current setup.

I'll tell you what I use, but you will probably need a higher wattage heat bulb because veiled, and panther chameleons basking temps are higher than Jackson's.
I have a 10.0 linier UVB bulb. A 75 watt incandescent house bulb. And two CFL 6500Ss for the plants. they don't need the red light at night in fact they don't need ant heat at all at night unless you temp drops below 60 degrease. They actually benefit from the cool down. I hope this helps.:)

So if I'm reading that right, it looks like I need this set of items:

http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Reptisun-Terrarium-Hood/dp/B00AQU8F2O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1454006381&sr=8-2&keywords=zoomed+24"

2x http://www.amazon.com/Apollo-Hortic...UTF8&qid=1454006442&sr=8-4&keywords=CFL+6500S

and I guess a 100W incandescent?

So the canopy I need for the 3 screw in bulbs: http://www.amazon.com/Exo-Terra-Com...id=1454006531&sr=8-1&keywords=exoterra+canopy

EDIT: actually, that canopy only supports up to 40W. So what do you have your 75W screwed into? Would love some pics.

Is that accurate?

Welcome any other thoughts/feedback as well.

Not sure how it would affect things cost wise, but if you are setting up the cages right next to each other (with something inbetween so they can't see each other), you could look at getting a 48" fixture and bulbs.

Lightyourreptiles.com has some great stuff. I'm planning on upgrading to their quad fixture within a few months:

http://www.lightyourreptiles.com/48...arcadia-12-and-6-5k-day-light-bulbs-included/

http://www.lightyourreptiles.com/tr...-6-5k-daylight-bulbs-and-free-plant-pro-bulb/

They also have 24" fixtures and bulbs if you are setting up in different spots. From what I've heard on this forum, Arcadia makes great UV bulbs that are a lot better than the Reptisuns and potentially last longer as well.

Thanks. They will be next to each other but I am pressed for time because the new dude gets here Tuesday and I have to use Amazon prime to get the gear in time.

Am I pretty on spot with my Amazon list?

I use that fixture I believe the 40w rating is for the bulbs that through off heat like the incandescent. Everything you picked out will work fine, or you can do what KLowery88 said you could check out Light your reptiles I hear he has helped many with their lighting needs they say he is real helpful.

And also still wondering about that 75-100 incandescent. How do I mount that?
You might have to use can fixtures for all your lights except the linier UVB just so they will fit. But you'll definitely have to use a ceramic can fixture for the 100 watt heat bulb.

Well like, referencing my current setup I have that 2 light dome thing. Where in terms of position would the 3rd bulb go? Any photos of your setup?

Yah if you don't have the room for the long fixture just use the double dome, and a single one like the one you pictured. I put the heat lamp to one side to help with the gradient. That way they can get out of it without having to go down they can just move to the other side.
