Eric,
Are there any differences in the displays and combat behaviors between those animals from Malawi and the usual Tanz captives here? I've not worked with Meller's before and only seen the very sedentary behaviors of the ones in stores or at shows, etc.

Don't know for sure - but I've been told that the two do not get along at all.

Melleri are not sedentary when happy. they can be quite active, and have incredible social behavior. My CB male, Ardi, is seemingly going through a phase. He's a little over 3 years old, and has been, until now, perfectly happy in his 4' wide, 3' tall, 2' deep cage. Today, he rubbed his nose raw, and has been on the side of his cage - very unlike him.

I couldn't keep him still.

So, I brought in a large ficus, and sat him on it. Seemed happy when I left.

I need to get him a girlfriend...
