Yes, you need both. Plain calcium lightly every feeding, calcium with D3 a lot less often.

Good luck to you and keep us updated on him! Also, your UVB bulb, was it new when you got your chameleon? You need to change that out every 6 months or so. Get a Reptisun 5.0 tube. You never did say if that is what you are using for sure.
