Lethargic Chameleon

Ya if he wasn't so old I would I just think maybe it's just his time I've had him ever since he was a very little baby he's had a good life I said my goodbyes to him and told him if he wants to go to sleep you can but if you want to keep fighting that's also up to him

He looks too good in his pictures for me to think it is old age.

4 years really isn't THAT old. Yes he's getting up there but he doesn't look old and frail. IMO, a pets health is never up to them nor is living or dying. You are the care taker so that is all up to you whether you want to fight for him, or just give up on him. I think you've said your goodbyes prematurely.

It's plenty Bright I believe I was standing in the sun in that picture so it casted a shadow. I use a 5.0 zoo med reptisun and a 90w blue reptisun bulb. It's like he wants to fight and live but he dont. It just reminds me of when my grandpa was dying. He's kinda slouching now and closing his eyes. But then again I turn off his lights around this time. I really just think it's old age. Hes been a awesome chameleon. He's pretty much trained. I always leave his cage open and he just comes and wonders around my room then goes back in his cage. He was probably the coolest chameleon out there. I just have to face the facts and let him either fight or give up. Either way I know I did what I could and what I feel is right.

So how long have you had him? You said he is 4 yrs old, but is that how long he has been in your care? Please, if he is ends up not getting better, please have him humanely euthanized at the vet. I don't know what you meant by "taking him out of his misery". Nothing like freezing him. Contrary to what many people believe, it is a slow and painful death.
May I ask what you mean by " freezing him"? Just out of curiousity!

I'm gonna see what happens tomorrow hopefully he makes it through the night. Thank you everyone who tried to help out I appreciate it very much.

I don't know what he meant by that. But if you Google how to do it at home it says to freeze them. I couldn't do that to him. I'm here for him until his last breathe. He's been good to me
That's actually pretty disgusting that people would do that to any living creature. Reguardless what it is. Sorry to hear about your pal.

Thank you for your kind words. It really does suck I got him after I lost my minneature old English Bulldog. Lol I don't have any kids so there as close as it get's. He's a fighter will see what happens. If not hopefully it will just be in his sleep. I'm gonna put a few towels on the bottom of the cage. Or actually put him right above it until morning time. And see what happens. Thanks again

Just wanted to thank everyone for your help. Buddie died about 30 minutes ago he stayed alive until my mom ca me home and said goodbye to him. Rip buddie you were one of a kind
