Hi there my name is Lando and i always had some kind of pet in my life. Im a bit of an animal freak:D Right now i have two dogs(Marley,Lola), a hamster(Ming), three turtles(Squishy,Sharkbate,Dori) and the newest addition a 8 week old veiled chameleon(KK, King Koopa) or Koopa for short:D ((Try an d guess where I got the name)) anyways I did a lot of research before I got him. Thanks to u guys making it easyish. But I basicley wanted to go over my enclosure with u guys to see if I'm on the right track???

1.I have an 18x18x36 screen enclosure
2.Diy rain system that goes off every 3hours for 30minutes(not allot of water comes out so it ok that it on for 30minI tested it)
3.A uvb5.0 and a uva10.0 with a basking light 75watts as well
4. since I live in Arizona it hard to keep the humity so i use a shower curtain
5.Along with the diy rain system I using a reptifogger and that stays on all day to help keep the humility between 60% to 75% 80% highest
6.Two live plants four groups of Pothos and one Hibiscus in the middle and also have some fake plants on top
7.sticks and vines for him to climb and hide
8.And for the drainage I have holes drilled into the bottom that leads to a tub underneath his cage
9.Cause I work 9hours of the day I feed him in the mornings before I leave for work he eats 3 to 4 pinhead,1/4 crickets covered in calcium(Not time for the multivitamins, calcium with d3 yet)
10.Basking temps stay around 80'F but mostly stays under the uv

But that's pretty much it:D If i can do anything better please let me know and hopefully I can attach some pics of Koopa:D

Hello Lando, welcome to the forum :) Your setup looks superb to me, and little KK is gorgeous!
I am guessing you must have already read the excellent caresheet for Veileds on here.....The first advice I will give you is to feed him more. With one feeding per day you can let him have as much as he wants to eat....maybe even 20 small food items - https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/veiled/

A variety of feeders and gutloads is best for chams, and it's never too early to give new foods......I know he would love to have a few fruit flies to hunt while you are at work! :)

Here are a couple of links to 'The Gutloading Bible' AKA sandrachameleons blog - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/sandrachameleon/75-feeder-nutrition-gutloading.html

Cool Thanks!!! Question thu how would I keep the fruit fly from crawling away or what can I put them in for him to eat them???

This is one of the many difficulties in life that I have not yet fully solved :D
When I keep fruit flies there are often a few escapees......
The best method I think is to leave a couple of small pieces of fruit inside the cage. The flies 'should' stay near.......
If it comes to a point where you have too many flies buzzing around the room......Then invite a friend round, have a few beers, and leave the nearly empty cans around the room. Any loose flies will not be able to resist the sweet, sweet taste....and they will die.

It's a bit harsh, but we all gotta go somehow :D:cool:

Need to click were it says "manage attachments".

:D Hello and welcome to the forum. You enclosure looks great. Only thing I see you don't need the UVB 10.0. Just get rid of it. To strong. especially for a little guy. The fruit flies pretty much stay inside the enclosure but eventually you end up with them. I have them in my cricket tub and every time I open it they fly out. Just put out some traps or sticky strips. Here's lot's of info on nutrition.
and for feeders just use the hatchlings of everything listed for adults.

This is not strictly true. A 10.0 bulb is fine most of the time. As long as there is a suitable distance that the cham can remove itself to.
The enclosure in question has plenty of foliage so there should be no issue with this bulb.
Here is a study on Panther chameleons which shows conclusively that a chameleon will regulate it's basking time in order to maintain the correct levels of Vitamin D3 - http://www.jstor.org/discover/10.1086/597525?uid=3738032&uid=2&uid=4&sid=21101838436031

I agree that both the 5.0 and the 10.0 are not required. One of the bulbs probably ought to go :)

Cool cool:cool: u guys r awesome Thanks for the advice I'll get rid of uva bulb n try out putting a piece of fruit in his enclosure so the fly stick close to it and Thanks again!!!!
