Leaving for the day

Hi!
I'm leaving for a day trip soon and was wondering how I should handle the afternoon feeding in case I miss it? Can I just feed him 20 crickets in the morning? I usually feed him 10 crickets per feeding.

If full grown or teenager, dont worry about it, they can go days and days. I have done fine since 1995 just feeding them on the weekends with a light snack mid week. U want hunger strikes, feed everyday.

Or just yolo and when you leave throw a handful in and say god speed. Then the hunt begins.

Yes he's a teenager🙃. Hes been acting "out" a bit too. Climbing all over his enclosure and like "pawing" the corner of his cage where the basking light is? Idk if he's just exploring now or what lol.
He used to just sit in his basking spot all day. Now he's really active.
I've been feeding him everyday. Is that too much now? I feel bad if I skip a feeding🙉

If its a male you dont have to skip feedings. But once he is full grown and no longer a cricket vacuum, you do not want to feed small meals every day. At that point its larger meals a few times a week.

But yea once they are teenage they will start acting weird and may even get aggressive. They will end up with their adult personality in about two sheds.

Gotcha!! I noticed that. He stopped being a vacuum lol. He just started climbing all over his enclosure and also started exploring the bottom of his enclosure. Hes growing so fast😭 when I saw him walk around in the bottom for the very first time I got kinda worried. But he looks healthy. We are currently building his 2x2x4 enclosure.

I guess he'll be scared of me for the rest of his life then🥲 he never turned black, just a few dark spots and starts hiding. There was one time where he got really close to me when I put silkworms on his vines... I was hopeful for a few seconds but then the silkworms lil suction cups worked too well and when he tried to eat one, he pulled himself close to me and hissed at me🙃
But we still love him!

What ages do you cut back to every other day. My dude is about 7 months give or take a month. I feed him 10 feeders a day sometimes a few more in the evening if he’s interested. There has been a few times I skipped a day here and there.

I wouldn’t feed more than once a day. Maybe in a few more months you can start cutting him back. I keep an eye on cheeks and casque. If I see that they’re starting to bulge out, I adjust my feedings.

They will vastly increase cricket consumption as they become teenagers and go through their last growth spurt. You gotta notice they are doubling in weight every month or two. So imagine the last double, thats going to need alot of crickets. Once they are adults eating will drop off a cliff, they will go down 75-90% weekly.

My guy during the final push was eating 2 dozen full size crickets per day. Once he reached adult like 60 days later, it was about a dozen a week, or a few adult male dubia.
