Leaving a chameleon alone for 2 days bi weekly

I am bringing my chameleon to school with me and I still need to work every other weekend as part of my internship. He is a 9 month old Kinyongia vosellri. What types of things should I do to make sure my chameleon is okay for the time I am away. ( I leave Friday evening and return Sunday evening). Right now I mist manually 3-5 times a day and he has a little dripper. I would think he would be alright if I left him with a silkworm or two hidden in there and maybe 10 crickets.

Water is going to be the bigger issue, I think. You should seriously consider an automated misting system. Otherwise, I would worry about leaving your little guy for so long without water.

Agreed. Especially as he's a montane fischeri, and especially once winter weather and heating starts up. Interior heating really dries out the air.

I think you should really consider an automatic misting system. They take a lot of the worry away. I know they are expensive, but you will have peace of mind knowing that your chameleon will always have water available. You seriously won't regret it!

Also, I'd recommend you put your lighting on a timer if it's not already. Then, like you said, throw a few feeders in the cage before you go and your guy should be fine for a couple days. They can even go a few days without food although yours is still young and it would be better to eat every day. *I always leave a food dish for the feeders in my cage so the uneaten ones don't gang up on my guy at night.

We leave our adult panther chameleon alone for the weekend regularly with lights on timer and automatic rain system. Haven't had any problems yet and I think he probably enjoys the days he doesn't have to see us! :p

Get a good misting system - I had a monsoon that the timer went wacky on and it flooded my cage then would work for a couple of days and then do the same thing - I'm waiting on my aquazamp to be delivered next week now - the price difference isn't that much and worth the piece of mind .. I used "pay me later" with paypal and so I figure that it even stays in my "chameleon budget" and I might even be able to get another chameleon if my cricket hatching goes as planned. (they are additive)

agree

I have no experience with vosellri, but agree: lights on timer, automated mister, food bowl or cup if can teach. the more you can automate the better. I have noticed chams are really into their routines. They know minutes before the lights come on and go off , and where their water will come from. Stick with your your current routines, as changes will bring your cham confusion and the scariest of all cham terms 'stress'.
