leaning/sitting

curious if its "ok" for a cham to lean? ive seen my guy sort of lean a few times.. no particular reason it seems, once it looked like he was just leaning and another time he looked like he was leaning against something.

ive also seen him almost sitting a couple times. like.. one leg dangling off a branch like he is just chilling there.

i mentioned it to a few people but i thought id get the opinion of everyone who wants to reply.

if i had to guess i would say he is relaxing but he isnt human, also every time he has done he hes been in the basking area so it makes me wonder if he really is just kind of.. hanging out there soaking up the heat?

He will angle his body towards the heat, and towards the uv light, too. He will puff out and/or spread his body to get maximum benefit.

that makes sense. i once again need to get more bulbs to try. thought i had it with the zoo med heat lamp (i got 50w, need to try something more.. just afraid he will burn..)

just to make extra sure here are some pics of him just a bit ago doing the same thing, but leaning to get more heat makes perfect sense to me so thats probably it. he only does it on this spot.

thanks!

yep thats exactly what he is doing.. u dont necesarly need to get more bulbs its a natural thing for them to do, what are your temps in the basking area

not very high, i dont think my probe is very reliable but i have a few thermometers in there. one of them is the calibre III and its very close to the basking area and right now it says its 80 (oddly enough the probe reads 80 as well)

BUT i have 3 bulbs on just to get it there. im using both 50 watt basking bulbs (zoo meds) and another 75 or 60 watt reveal off to the side to hlep bulb it up a little bit.

id like to see it at least 85 and i wish i didnt have to have more than 1 heat bulb going at a time to get it there. suggestions? i have another thread actually i just started called "how do you keep your mist warm" but its mostly about trying to keep it warm while misting and stuff.
