Laying infertile eggs for the first time...got questions

Hi everyone,

My little Nosy Be girl is laying infertile eggs for the first time. I'm a little worried because she is a little young. I have a couple questions:

1. How long does the process usually last? She's been at it for about 2 hours now. She's deep within her hole right now.

2. The lights are schedule to turn off soon. Should I leave them on or let them turn off?

Nothing is written in stone....but here's how it should go...she may dig one or more holes at first but should chose one and dig it for several hours or even several days until she is happy with it. She will then turn around butt down usually in the evening and lay the eggs. It can take several hours. She should then fill the hole in and tamp it down and return to the branches hungry and thirsty. During the time she is digging, etc its important that she doesn't see you watching her.

It doesn't matter if you let the lights turn off or leave them on IMHO.

Ok, great. Thanks for the reply. I see her now. It looks like she has filled most of her deep hole in. There's still an indent in the soil about an inch deep and she's laying in it. I just turned the lights off. Hopefully she successfully laid the eggs. I'll check on her in the morning.

well after spending the night sleeping on the soil near her eggs, she finished covering the hole back up this morning. Anyway, SUCCESS!!! Her first clutch of 9 infertile eggs!

Is it kind of a small clutch?

How long should I wait before I introduce her to her mate? Should I let her grow a little bigger first. Even though she was a large holdback, she's only like 6 months old right now.
