Laying Conditions

Hi. I think my female is pretty much ready to lay her eggs. I was planning on setting up a seperate cage to put her in immediately after spending time with her new lover, but everything happened so quickly and I was unable to do it. They mated about 1.5 weeks ago, she has two live plants with organic soil in her cage now. We have a misting system so it gets enough moisture. Is it okay to move her over to a new cage, or better to leave her where she is at? I have one other question. The special cage I set up for her I think the bottom is 12x12, what size should the laying bucket be?

thank you for all your help.

If she was only bred less than two weeks ago, shes still got several more weeks till she has to lay.

It took my female about a month to lay after she was bred.

I would move her now.

and you need to provie as much room as possible for her to dig, and it should be at least 12 inches deep.

Thank you for all of your help. I am moving her this weekend. I know it seems really early, but I think she is about ready to start laying, she has stopped eating, (I am unsure if completely but I know it has dramatically decreased) and sits at the bottom of her cage all day. We have another female about the same age, and she never showed any signs of color changes but my boyfried decided to take matters into his own hands. When I came home from work the other day he had her in a male's cage, she was dark dark dark -- almost black and not moving at all. The male acted like he wanted nothing to do with her. Now her belly is starting to look a little bigger, still no pinky color, but she is a little lighter. I know they didn't mate, but is it possible is has eggs without a color change? She is still eating okay. The other thing is now that he's done this she hisses all the time. Ugh.

Thank you.
