Last week I lost Spike

Today would have been Spike's 5th birthday and instead of posting hatch day pictures I'm posting memorial pictures. Spike came to me in November 2014 with some health issues. He has a bone infection in his right back leg and knee. My vet was able to save Spike's back leg and even those all the bones were eat away the muscles hardened and he was able to use that leg. Spike's toenails were broke off or pulled out when I got him and basically the same thing happen again in his left front hand where there was a tiny piece of nail left. We had been fighting the infection for over a month and the vet said his little body was just tired of fighting and he gave up. Spike was a very special chameleon to me. He was Luie & Camille's grandson, My beloved female Sadie's brother and Lottie, Amos and Andy's Daddy. We all loved him very much and he is already missed. I put together a few photos for a tribute.

Spike was on the cover of the 2016 Chameleon Forums calendar.

I am sorry for your loss. Thanks to you though, he seems to have had a full and happy life, which is something you should be proud of. It's not easy to save any lizard's life, let alone save the leg, too! I hope you feel proud to have had the opportunity to care for him. He was a big and beautiful boy!

Jann,
Beautiful memorial for Spike. You were both lucky to have shared in each other's lives - no matter how short.
RIP Spike.

Deb

Jann, I'm very sorry to hear about Spike. He will be missed. I have always loved seeing his updates. Rest in Paradise little one :(.

I'm so sorry Jann. It's been a rough year for you, but I know the love and care you give to each of your babies, and they are luckier for having you in their lives.

Sleep well, little Spike. I've never seen a more handsome veiled - he was very special.

So sorry friend. Spike was STUNNING! I had a veiled when I was a teen. He also passed unexpectedly. RIP "Papito".
